Miracle of Bern (2005 - German, subtitled)

DVD

"Great concept, storyline not been tapped into before - only good if you don't mind watching a subtitled film without possibility of a dubbed version" 7/10

Miracle of Bern is not your average footie film. Its in German suprisingly about German football - so if thats not your thing at all, look away now. A young boy is friends with one of the 1954 German squad side that are off to the world cup in Switzerland. His father has just been released from prisons in Russia, after the end of world war II which opens up a father-son struggle. It also follows a journalist that has been asked to cover the world cup and my guesses are that their stories are intertwined. Only seen 35 minutes, due to distractions but worth more of a watch from what I've seen.

White Noise (2005 - Michael Keaton)

DVD

"Now I think I've seen it all. If you are of nervous disposition, don't watch this film - nonetheless, worth a watch but only the 'Ring' had me throwing a cloth over my TV at night after watching it!" 6/10

Contacting the dead through TV's is a far fetched idea but apparently, its something that people have tried to do. Jonathan (Keaton) has everything going for him, lovely kid, his wife (whom he is very in love with) who has just become pregnant and work life is fine. All of a sudden he is thrown into turmoil as his wife dies in a car accident. Through disturbing movements, Jonathan is tracked down by a specialist in EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena)who says that he can speak to his wife. Strange events unfold as he plunges deeper and deeper into the realm of the supernatural - a synopsis that could send chills down the spine. It had the typical 'don't go there!, theres bad things!' rant at the TV but it didn't have me quaking in my boots the whole way through. One particular part at the end where there are three shadows in the background really got to me. If you are into horrors and thrillers, don't miss out on White Noise - but I'm quite sure that it will not make its way into your DVD collection anytime soon.
